Lasso

We know that acquiring new customers is critical to small businesses, especially with today's economy. Lasso is a new way to bring customers in your door. With Lasso, you can get the word out about the deals and discounts you offer. It's free to create deals and promote your business with Lasso. Your deals get published on Facebook, where users will discover them and share them with their friends.

Lasso helps your customers save money too. They'll discover your deals based on what’s offered in their area and what their friends are using. The more friends you share your deals with, the greater your reach.

If you're offering discounts, daily specials, coupons, happy hours, or any other type of deal, Lasso is a great way to get the word out to new customers for free!

Does anyone know how to increase the visibility of a brand on FaceBook? I can see this being really useful for one client - but they refuse to do discounts of this sort. If you could point me in the correct direction I'd be grateful.

Hi Mike. Thanks for your question. It is a good one, but also one that doesn't have an easy answer. Different businesses take many different tactics in promoting their brand online.

There are a lot of great resources out there to help choosing your tactics, but Intuit has put together a Word of Mouth Toolkit that might help you in that quest. It covers different ways to market your business, including Facebook.

You can check it out here: http://smallbusiness.intuit.com/small-business/grow-your-business/word-o...

I hope that is helpful, and thanks for trying Lasso and Intuit Labs!

The link to the WOM web page does not work. When clicked on, i am taken to a page where I am asked to enter my email address and then click an arrow. Then, I am able to click on a DOWNLOAD button, which takes me to a page theat says OOPS!!!. I would really like to get the entire WOM package. Please help.

Lasso

Hi William,

Unfortunately, the team who maintains the site, is being extremely slow to respond to the issue. I the WOM toolkit, and if you send me an email at dante_cassanego at intuit dot com, i can send you the file.

sorry about the delay

Lasso

thanks for letting me know william. you're right! it's broken. i've notified the team the publishes the toolkit and will let you know when it's back up.

thanks for your diligence!

Lasso

Hey Dante. I was wondering about that link to the WOM download. I really want to take a look at it. I would like to set up a couple of web sites with Intuit.com, but I would really like to read this material so I know some directions before I secure domain names and design the sites.
Please let me lnow when this link will be repaired.

Lasso

hi william, i will definitely let you know. I've notified the team that publishes the kit and they should be on it soon. as soon as i know, i'll post back here.

Great concept and good start on implementation. Currently the deal is posted to your personal profile, not your business page. Unfortunately, you can't copy the link from the deal page and share it in a Facebook post, either - Facebook displays only "Facebook Apps". From a marketing perspective, this is a significant flaw. Another flaw is on the customer view page you get when you click through on the deal from the Facebook profile. When you get to that page, the emphasis is on printing the deal and taking it into the business to claim the discount. This is not useful for ecommerce. True, there's a link to the business's web page but it looks more like an afterthought than an emphasis. If you are ever able to post the deal to the business page and make online deals more prominent, then it begins to make more sense as a promotional tool. I'd like to recommend this and use it with our clients but until these issues are addressed it's less likely we'll be able to do so.

Scott, thank you so much for trying Lasso and for your feedback!

Two quick responses to your suggestions, but, if you would like, I would love to get more details and insight from you. You can contact me on twitter @dantec or email me: dante_cassanego at intuit dot com.

Regarding posting to a business page: you should be able to post deals to your business page. on your business page underneath the comment box, you should see a context menu that gives you access to applications. If you click that, you should see a lasso icon. After clicking the lasso icon, you should be able to select a deal, and post a comment with it.

Regarding e-commerce: you're absolutely right. We initially tried to focus on retail stores. I'm interested to learn more about the requirements that you think would aid the use of Lasso for e-commerce businesses.

Thanks so much for your suggestions and feedback!

Lasso

Thanks for APP Dante. It has worked a treat for a couple business pages I set up for wanting clients, they have been very impressed. I noticed it can have some teething problems but nothing to major. I would give this a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

Thanks Gav! I'm glad to hear that it's working for you and your clients.

I'm always interested in improving and really would love to hear your suggestions on how to make Lasso better. do you have any specific things you'd like to see?

Thanks!

Lasso

Is it possible to edit/delete deals? This would be very useful.

Lasso

Hi John. Thanks for giving Lasso a try! Yes you can edit deals. When you log into your home page you should see a list on the right with your deals. There should be a link called 'edit' next to the deal that you've created.

At this time, there is not an explicit delete, but, if you'd like to have that effect, edit the deal and set the expiration date of the deal to yesterday. This will cause the deal to expire.

Hope that is helpful, and let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks!

My coupons are being published on reent activity in my personal facebook - not on my business page. On my personal facebook, there is a tab that says Deals - but when you click on it, it says that Lasso only works on pages. But on my business page, there is no Deals tab - and when I try to add one, it says that there is no application Lasso. So what am I doing wrong?

Lasso

Hi Carolyn. Sorry for the confusion. The best way to get Lasso on your business page is to go to:

http://apps.facebook.com/lassodeals/business/spreadtheword

about 3/4 of the way down the page, there should be a link to add lasso to you business page. from there, you should be able to add lasso.

Please let me know if that works for you. Thanks very much for trying lasso!

I am having a problem applying this app to my facebook page. I've tried to add it 1. being logged in and 2. not being logged in and I get the same results: facebook telling me that I have to create a facebook page which I already have. I am not a computer wiz, but I have run into this problem before with facebook. Has anyone else had this problem? How are you guys able to add this app or use it on facebook?

Lasso

Hi Karen. Thanks for giving Lasso a try! It would help to where you are when facebook is telling you that you have to create a page. Are you clicking a button that says "create a deal" for business owners, or are you on the lasso profile page (the one that has a big "go to application" button on the top left?

Thanks!

Lasso

You should consider tying this into the business marketing system at http://www.localadlink.com which offers similar services. It looks like a match made in heaven for small businesses.

Lasso

Cool. thanks for the heads up aaron! partnerships with companies like these are a great idea. we're always looking for ways to reach more small businesses. I've got this down as one of our strategies to pursue.

Lasso

Chet,
we should just do this now, you are awesome,

I would love to add the ads in my own CMS and hook it to your system so I could run the same ads/discounts/etc... on my own website, and have them reflected via Lasso as well. So possibly an area in lasso to read/parse my rss feed on my website for latest coupons w/ image and data? Also - will this be a flash-based tool? Could we skin it so it could be more of a "widget" that can be placed anywhere on any site, including facebook via Lasso? Also, can you inject stats tracking into it? maybe allow users to insert their Google Analytics Tracking ID, and Lasso's app will track views/clicks, etc...?

Just some ideas, thanks!

Lasso

Cool. I love your ideas and energy! thanks! I'll be honest, we're really just starting so some of the things you mention are probably a little bit down the road, but i think all are great ideas that we will definitely consider doing. If you have any more thoughts and ideas for how to make Lasso better, please, never hesitate to shoot them our way!

Lasso

Cool. Thanks Chet! We're glad you like it!

An API is a very cool idea. we're still in the early stages, but definitely something i would love to do in the future. what do you mean by manage remotely?

Lasso

Another excellent idea... Facebook is becoming unbelievably popular and the apps on that platform are getting used often! Will you be supplying an API for this for other developers to hook into... and maybe manage remotely?

Thanks and keep up the good work!
